Instructions
Place a sauté pan on heat and add the almonds in it. Sauté for about 5-10 minutes on low-medium heat until few almonds begin to darken. It will be hot to touch. Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool down a bit; until it is warm to touch. You should comfortably be able to touch it for 10 seconds or more.
Add half of the almonds to your blender or how much ever almonds will fill your blender halfway. Pulse it a few times until you get a coarse almond meal / flour.
Now, blend on medium speed scraping the sides often. It will turn it into a paste like consistency. You can notice some oil separation happening.
Keep on blending until the paste turns into liquid texture.
Blend for 5 more minutes to get a smooth almond butter.
Transfer it to a clean and dry cup. Add the other batch and repeat the same process.
Transfer it to the same cup. If you choose to sweeten it, add the honey and mix it vigorously with a spoon.
Transfer the almond butter to a clean glass jar and store it in the refrigerator.
Notes
This recipe yields approximately 300-320g of almond butter. With honey, you'll get about 340-350g of homemade almond butter.
Time taken will depend on the size and power of your blender.
Store it in a clean glass jar and in a refrigerator.
You can choose to use any sweetener you like.
Always ensure you fill your blender only until it is half full of almonds.
